Dine Out Boston takes place each year two times each year - winter and summer - for two or three highly-anticipated weeks when top Boston and Cambridge restaurants showcase their cuisine by offering special deals on lunch and dinner menus. 

Dates for the Winter 2026 edition of Boston Restaurant Week, as the event is also called, are February 23 - March 15.

What to Expect during Dine Out Boston 2026

Here's how Dine Out Boston works:  Chefs at participating restaurants in Boston, Cambridge, and nearby suburbs offer prix fixe lunch and dinner menus.

Each chef selects a price point for each meal - $27, $32, or $36 for lunch, and $38, $46, or $55 for dinner - and prepares delicious lunch and dinner menus at the chosen fixed price to showcase the restaurant's best fare.  

Typically you choose two or three courses, with several options for each course.  Some restaurants include selections from their regular menu, while others prepare entirely different dishes.

Menus may offer you extras for a supplemental charge:  perhaps a dollop of caviar, a garnish of lobster, a sprinkling of truffles, or a slice of seared fois gras. 

At a few participating restaurants, diners can choose optional wine pairings.  Since not everyone loves wine, a few restaurants offer beer flights - watch for this trend to grow!

Prices do not include beverages, taxes, and tips - and you should always tip based on your best guess of what your meal might have normally cost, not on the bargain price you're actually paying.

How much does Dine Out Boston save you? 

It depends. 

Post-pandemic, many local restaurants have been struggling with high rents, rising costs for ingredients thanks to continuing inflation (have you checked out the price of eggs recently?!!), and labor shortages, so razor-thin margins have become the norm.

We were surprised to see that Dine Out price points for the March event remain unchanged from last summer's event.

But if you're hoping to get the most for your money, here's a tip:  Certain steakhouses and seafood restaurants usually offer attractive bargains during Restaurant Week. 

Similarly, newly-opened spots often offer great deals, as they're hoping you'll become a regular customer.  Like any good advertising opportunity, Dine Out Boston offers a lot of exposure.

Here are five more tips for finding the biggest value:

1.  Identify your target restaurants, and check their Restaurant Week menus carefully.  Although many top Boston chefs showcase their culinary skills by including selections from their regular menu or equally impressive special creations.  But a few similarly stellar spots offer a watered-down menu with simple dishes you could easily prepare at home.  You may want to drop these places from your list. 

2.  Check to see if optional wine pairings or beer flights are offered.  These can be a good-to-great deal, depending on what is being offered.

3.  Compare prices with the regular menu to make sure the Dine Out Boston menu is really a bargain.  Some restaurants offer similar prix-fixe options on an on-going basis which you can savor any time.

4.  Don't plan to save on the tip.  Just because you're getting a bargain on your meal doesn't mean less service.  Do your part to make sure the servers (who get paid way less than minimum wage) don't get short-changed.  Do your best to figure out what your meal might normally cost you, and plan to tip based on that amount.

5.  Finally, when making your final decision about where to go, consider giving a few extra points to our local chef/owned eateries, which give our local restaurant scene its special vibrancy and uniqueness.  They need our support right now.
