Dine Out Boston Summer 2024 gives you the opportunity to sample the creations of the city's best chefs at special prices during two "restaurant weeks" in August.

Here's how it works:  During Dine Out Boston, restaurants offer special fixed price lunch and dinner menus to tempt us away from the beach and showcase their summer fare.

You will find a number of excellent choices.  Whether you choose outdoor dining on a terrace or patio, or the comfort of air conditioning at an inside table, it's a wonderful way to savor this last month of summer.

Look for updates about which restaurants are participating and the menus on offer starting about a month before Summer Dine Out Boston kicks off.

What to Expect during Dine Out Boston

Each chef chooses one of three price options for each meal - $22, $27, or $32 for lunch, and $36, $41, or $46 for dinner - and prepares a delicious menu their chosen price point.

Sometimes, for a small supplemental cost, you can add on extras like a dollop of caviar, a sprinkling of truffles, or a slice of fois gras.  Some restaurants also offer wine pairings or beer flights, and these can often be a great deal.  Prices do not include beverages, taxes, and tips.

With a wide range of participating Boston and Cambridge restaurants on offer, you can choose your Dine Out selections based on your favorite chef, cuisine, location, and price point.

Some restaurants also offer the special menus on the Saturday between the two weeks.  A few make their special menus - and prices - available throughout August.

Although drinks, tax, and tip are additional and a few selections even require supplemental charges, Dine Out Boston still serves up a sweet deal. 

Some participating restaurants also offer wine pairings for an add-on cost.  Since not everyone loves wine, a few restaurants have started offering beer flights - watch for this trend to grow!

Should You Make Reservations for Dine Out Boston?

Yes.  You definitely need to have reservations because bargain-hunting foodies turn out for this event in huge numbers.  Your best strategy will be to call as soon as the reservation period opens, usually about 3 weeks before each Dine Out period.

Because many of the city's top restaurants take part, competition to get coveted reservations can be fierce - but diners are well-rewarded by the opportunity to sample the cuisine of famous chefs, revisit old favorites, and try the offerings of newcomers.
