Leader Bank Pavilion on the South Boston Waterfront overlooks Boston Harbor and is where you'll find Boston's hottest summer concerts programmed by Live Nation, the 5,000-seat venue's owner.

As a Boston Local, I can tell you from personal experience that the Pavilion's outstanding sound system, cool breezes from the Harbor wafting in through the open-sided covered pavilion sides, and spectacular views of city lights dancing across the water make this a magical place to hear music on the waterfront.

Performers range from top headliners of today to popular groups from decades past, and shows almost always sell out during the too-short season from late-spring through early fall.

Here's the Pavilion's schedule and tickets for coming shows:

Almost all seats in the amphitheater-style Pavilion provide excellent sightlines to the stage, although I do avoid the back corners.

The superb sound system - considered one of the best of all Boston concert venues - means you'll be able to hear well wherever you sit and shouldn't experience any distortion, so buy whatever seats fit your budget.

This whole stretch of Seaport along the waterfront is packed with restaurants, bars, and some of the city's liveliest nightlife, so you can easily extend your evening here before or after the show.

How to Get to Leader Bank Pavilion

Leader Bank Pavilion is located directly on the South Boston Waterfront at 290 Northern Ave, Boston.  Just in case you're not from Boston, this area is also called the Seaport neighborhood.  I call it by both names in this article, which is probably slightly confusing, but hey, that's Boston!

Getting to the Pavilion on the T (Boston's subway) is easy.  Take the T's Red Line to South Station and transfer to the Silver Line.  Then, take the Silver Line to the Silver Line Way stop (right after you come above ground).

To go back to South Station after the concert, hop on any inbound Silver Line bus - they all go back to South Station.

You can also walk from South Station to the Pavilion, which is what I usually do.  The distance is only about a mile.  The Silver Line may be a little faster, but walking is more interesting.

Where to Park near Leader Bank Pavilion

Should you drive to the Leader Bank Pavilion?  There's no need to, thanks to the T, and in fact it's better not to if you can avoid it because driving in Boston is seldom easy and parking can be quite expensive.

But if you do drive, probably the best choice is at the South Boston Waterfront Transportation Center (503 Congress Street), which offers decent discount rates for Pavilion shows and is about a 10-minute walk.  Plus, because it's a huge garage, you should allow another 5 minutes or so to get in and out of it.

Although you can get food and drinks from the concessions inside the Pavilion, you'll find a LOT of other wonderful restaurants along the waterfront - just walk along Northern Ave toward downtown, and you'll see them lining both sides of the street.

Here are a few great choices within a couple of blocks of the Pavilion:
  • Legal Sea Foods Harborside - 270 Northern Ave - Sit on the terrace overlooking the Pavilion or head to the rooftop lounge on the 3rd floor - best waterfront views and great seafood.
  • 75 on Liberty Wharf - 75 Liberty Wharf - Enjoy casual fare on the Seaport waterfront.
  • Temazcal Tequila Cantina - 250 Northern Ave - Indulge in the fantastic raw seafood bar and cocktails.

Boston Insider Tip:  Confused by the Pavilion's Name?

If you've visited or lived in Boston for a couple of decades or more, you may remember that when concerts first took place in 1994 in this big white tent on the waterfront, it was called Harbor Lights Pavilion.

Five years later, Live Nation purchased the venue and selling its naming rights.  Since that time, a series of bank names have preceded "Pavilion" - Bank of Boston, BankBoston, FleetBoston, Bank of America, Blue Hills Bank, and Rockland Trust Pavilion.

Flash forward to 2021: locally owned Leader Bank based in the Hyde Park area of Boston purchased naming rights - so this popular concert venue is now called Leader Bank Pavilion.

But if you think you remember it by another name, you're not wrong!
