How far a walk is it from Quincy Market to the Boston Seaport World Trade Center? Thanks!
Susan's reply: I always hate to answer questions by saying "That depends..." - but that really is true for this particular walk because of all the interesting distractions and sights to see along the way.
The actual distance from Quincy Market (a.k.a. Faneuil Hall Marketplace) to the Boston Seaport World Trade Center is a little less than a mile - perhaps .8 mile - and the walk is almost totally flat and easy, so you can figure out the possible time based on your usual walking speed for that distance - maybe 10-12 minutes.
There are 2 slightly different routes that you can take leaving Quincy Market, and both offer interesting sights. The most straight-forward is the Rose Kennedy Greenway, just across from Quincy Market. Head south on the Greenway (to your right, if you're facing it after leaving Quincy Market), and cross over to the South Boston Waterfront, where the World Trade Center is located, on the Moakley Footbridge. From there, walk down Seaport Blvd past all the glitzy new restaurants and the Institute of Contemporary Art to the World Trade Center.
Alternately, instead walking down the Greenway, you can also reach the Moakley Footbridge from Quincy Market by walking along Harborwalk, the public right of way along the waterfront. Basically, from Quincy Market, just head over to the waterfront by the New England Aquarium, and you'll see Harborwalk, as it's marked fairly well in this area.
