Project Tchaikovsky - Fashion at Symphony Hall!

April 13 and 15 This season the Boston Symphony Orchestra presents Project Tchaikovsky, a unique fashion contest featuring fashion inspired by the magical music of Pytor Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

The Project Tchaikovsky contest will feature evening wear designs by ten talented fashion students affiliated with schools throughout the greater Boston area. Each contestant has been given $100 towards the production of his or her design.

The contest is scheduled in conjunction with upcoming BSO concerts featuring Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 2, Little Russian, on April 13 and 15 at Symphony Hall. Hall doors will open at 6:30 p.m. on both Project Tchaikovsky evenings, allowing patrons to view the dresses and enjoy the festive atmosphere.

The winner of Project Tchaikovsky will be announced at a special post-concert fashion event and reception in Higginson Hall, following the April 15 performance. The Project Tchaikovsky winner will be featured in Boston Magazine and receive dinner for two at the Oak Room. Additional prizes to be announced.

The winner of Project Tchaikovsky will be determined by a judging panel including BSO violinist Wendy Putnam, fashion designers Michael DePaulo and Nara Paz, and Mary Nobile King, boutique director of Chanel and recently named one of the Boston Globe's “25 Most Stylish People.” Jared Bowen, arts reporter for WGBH’s Greater Boston, will serve as the emcee for the April 15 post-concert event.
