“The Jason Lindner Project” - comprised of an collection of young, multicultural musicians (including the highly acclaimed pianist, Jason Lindner, Mark Guiliana and Panayotis Andereou) will perform at The Beehive on May 1, 2010. The trio will play songs from Lindner's new album “Now vs. Now,” conveying a global message of peace through non-violence.
Based out of New York City, the band is arguably the hippest and most exciting assembly in the New York City music scene.
The album Now Vs.Now is a collaboration of artists produced by Meshell Ndegeocello featuring an eclectic mix of poetry beat-box by Baba Israel, famed trumpeter Avishai Cohen and saxophonist Anat Cohen. Also, Kurt Rosenwinkel performs on guitar and Meshell Ndegeocello is featured as a vocalist throughout the album.
“The skill sets and abilities of these musicians are profound. Therefore they have the sensibilities to explore all genres of music while pushing boundaries. These extremely talented jazz musicians are exploring everything from rap to beat boxes, electric music, and rock…fusing genres with pop. They are expanding people’s notions of what music is all about….it’s what Miles Davis did in the 50’s, 60’s and 70s” – Bruce Ferrara, Music Director of The Beehive
"...one of the most impressive big bands to emerge in years...filled with declarative themes, recurring motifs and varying temperaments that range from elegant balladry to body-rocking grooves." - JazzTimes Magazine
“Rhythm provides more than a heartbeat for the pianist Jason Lindner… Mr. Lindner seems only partly interested in jazz’s idiomatic customs. What matters to him is groove, however it comes.” - New York Times
