Hi there! I am trying to find a way of how to get to Foxboro's Gillette Stadium - Boston from New York on public transportation. Could you please help me? Thanks! - John

Susan's response: Sure, happy to! Getting from New York to Boston by public transportation is easy - you'll find several bus options plus Amtrak described here. Bus fares vary quite a bit according to amenities - generally speaking, you'll pay more if you a) book close to the time of departure and b) want WiFi. Amtrak fares vary based on day/time of departure, and type of service - Acela, being the fastest, costs the most.

Getting to Gillette Stadium from Boston on public transportation is also a great plan because the stadium is about 22 miles south of the city, and with gas inching toward $4/gallon, getting there by train or bus makes a lot of sense - but depending on the event, it can be a little tricky.

The good news is that even though there is no direct regularly scheduled public transportation from Boston to Gillette Stadium, it is indeed possible to get there without a car. Options vary based on the event you're attending.

Getting to Patriots games by public transportation is easy - just take the "Patriots Train" direct from North Station right to Gillette. Occasionally, train service right to the stadium is provided for other big events, especially soccer games - but many Boston locals feel this doesn't happen nearly often enough.

Public transportation to New England Revolution games, concerts, and other events is a bit trickier, but still doable. You'll find several options for getting to Gillette from Boston outlined here.

Hope this helps! Have a great time in Boston!

Susan
