Boston Hotel Accommodations near Black Falcon Cruise Terminal

by Jan
(Richmond, VA)

Where is a reasonable hotel to stay if extending your travel from the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal? What travel arrangements would be needed from cruise terminal to hotel and again from hotel to Boston Logan Airport the next day? Thanks!

Susan's reply: The Black Falcon Cruise Terminal in located in the South Boston Waterfront neighborhood, where 3 hotels are also located. Click here for specific information about these hotels.

All three hotels are quite nice, and easily reachable from the Cruise Terminal. Rates vary from quite reasonable to fairly pricey, based on whether or not events are going on at the nearby Boston Expo and Convention Center, or the Seaport World Trade Center. However, the convenience can't be beat.

The Seaport is probably the most convenient, as you can take the Silver Line bus (click on the Black Falcon link, above, for more info) directly to it. However, the other 2 hotels are just a block or 2 away.

You can also take a cab from the cruise terminal - the distance is less than half a mile.

I also sometimes see people walking from to the hotels from the terminal - best if your luggage rolls easily.

As for getting back to the airport the next day, the easiest way is to take a water taxi from the wharf across the street from the Seaport Hotel. The ride is 10 minutes, at the most, and the fare from this location runs about $20. You can get some super photos of downtown Boston from the boat. The concierge at your hotel can call the water taxi for you.

Alternately, you can also take the Silver Line to the airport, for a fare of only about $2. It's fast and convenient.

By the way, the South Boston Waterfront is an interesting area, with a couple of Boston's top museums, lots of great places to eat, some art galleries, and if you're into fashion, one of the city's top high-end boutiques, Louis Boston.

Have a great time on your cruise, and in Boston!

Susan
