Located right on the South Boston Waterfront and owned by Boston ticket broker/concert promoter Live Nation, the large open-air Pavilion stages some of the most popular concerts in Boston during the warm summer months.
Designed as an amphitheater, the tent-like top of the pavilion offers shelter in case of rain and also provides structure for the stage. When you're in the audience, though, you get an amazing view of Boston Harbor and the city skyline as well as other points on the South Boston Waterfront.
Live Nation books a mixture of acts - everything from rock concerts by the hottest bands to more mellow performances. Performers include popular groups like Jethro Tull, the Doobie Brothers, Tori Amos, RadioHeads, Chevelle, Halestorm, Flaming Lips, Staind, and of course, many more. Most seats in the Pavilion are good, and you can see some terrific Boston concerts here - but food and drink, especially if you order beer or other alcoholic beverages, can deflate your pocketbook. As an alternative, stop for a bite before or after the show at one of the South Boston Waterfront restaurants and bars in the neighborhood.
When the Boston weather is good, you can easily walk to the Pavilion from South Station (about 5 minutes) or any of the other downtown T stations.
No concert tickets but want to hear the music? Since Bank of America Pavilion has open sides, you can easily hear the concerts from nearby areas along the waterfront. Sit outside at one of the nearby restaurants such as LTK, and enjoy the music.
